To Our Valued Community,

As you are aware, the World Health Organization has declared COVID-19 to be a global pandemic, and the American government as declared a national emergency.  Our hearts are with everyone affected by this virus around the world.

Chequessett Chocolate is committed to prioritizing the health and well-being of our community (employees and customers alike) while also exercising vigilance and cooperation with local health officials and government leaders as they work to contain the virus. At this time both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicate no evidence to suggest that food and other products imported to the United States pose a risk of COVID-19 transmission to customers.

We are doing everything in our power and taking every precaution to ensure heightened safety in these difficult times. To that end, we are selecting proactive communication to alert you to steps that we’re taking in this highly dynamic environment. In addition to increased sanitizing and cleaning procedures, we are conducting training to ensure that our employees are well-versed in our most effective tool in limiting the spread of COVID-19: frequent hand washing, the use of disposable gloves, hand santizing, cleaning and santizing work areas, as well as, controlling identified food safety hazards in the workplace. Furthermore, our no exception policies demand that any employee who is sick, especially with a cough or upper respiratory issue, must stay home and can only return to work with written permission from their physician. Also, any employee who has recently returned from travel abroad must be self-quarantined for a 2-week period.

I hope you’ll join me in doing all we can to reduce the spread of COVID-19 transmission, extending our most sincere thanks to health care workers.  As always, we are grateful for your business. We will continue to update our communication as new information presents and look forward to creating safe and positive experiences for our community.

With sincere thanks,

Katherine Reed, CEO
